Judges comments -Trish Brennan, Roseanne Lynch (Crawford CIT), Harry Moore (St. Johns College)
Overall a wonderful range of photos, particularly images shot from boats giving us a feel for the energy, joy and sheer exhaustion of the day.
We were looking something that were more than pure description – images of 3 guys exhausted had a wonderful comic element while describing the feeling of pure exhaustion of partaking in an event such as this – while the winner in Pictures of the Day, lady in head wrap – captures the sense of exultation of finishing – both these images also achieved a ‘good photograph’, with a sense of composition and use of light to seduce the viewer.
With the harbour shots, we were impressed by the range of images taken from sea-level at entrance to Corks magnificent harbour giving those of us not partaking a sense of rower’s point of view.
